Peter Cairney - Chairman
I have been a gamekeeper throughout my working life, rearing game and working on shoots.
I started clay shooting in 2006 and made my first International Sporting Team in 2007. Since then, I have regularly represented Scotland at international level.
I have also been part of the World Sportrap Sporting Team, representing Scotland four times and winning a team bronze medal, as well as an individual bronze medal in 2021.
In addition, I have represented Scotland twice in both the International FITASC and Skeet teams.
I believe I bring valuable experience to the Board, and I am committed to representing the members while helping to make the right decisions to improve and grow our sport.
Edith Barnes - Treasurer/FITASC
As FITASC rep I would like to say that it is a great sport where camaraderie and meeting new friends is beyond belief. This is a gun down discipline and is set up to represent live game shooting, so all your targets are so varied and adds interest and enjoyment to the day. I have shot FITASC for Scotland since 1999 when it was introduced as a home international and have represented the team every year, and Great Britain on numerous occasions since 1988. In which time I have won both European and World championships. I have been Scottish ladies champion many times in the past.
During my shooting career I have shot numerous disciplines I started off shooting sporting at game fairs as a junior, and small club shoots then progressed in 1985 to join the SCTA and in my time as a member I have shot DTL, ABT, National Skeet, NASA Skeet, Olympic skeet, Olympic trap, National Sporting, Super Sporting, Sportrap, Compak and FITASC.
I have represented Scotland in National skeet, Olympic Skeet, National Sporting & FITASC and even been captain for some of the teams. I won National skeet overall Scottish championship in 1987 with 99/100 after a shoot off with Don O’Driscoll who was a real ambassador for skeet during his shooting career. I even represented Scotland at Olympic skeet at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester and won a bronze medal.
I am Head gardener at Drummond Castle Gardens, I learnt this skill from my granddad many years ago he gave me a small patch in his vegetable garden and I had to sow, grow and pick my own vegetables I had to weed and keep this area tidy and clean all season. I was always with him at weekends watching what he was doing learning all the time more & more about gardening. When I was at high school I worked as a summer worker For two years in Drummond castle gardens at 15, before I finished my higher education I was offered a full time job there so I took this on and went back on the days that were required to sit my highers. I was trained under Islay Alan and learned more skills about gardening when he retired I was acting head gardener until they got a replacement for him, the new head gardener stayed for approximately 18 years and when he left I applied for head gardners position and was the successful candidate so I am now head gardener at Drummond castle gardens.
